Paul Davis, a Hopkinton veteran who served on Okinawa was a member of the crew of the USS Hailey (DD-556). Hailey was armed with five 5-inch anti-aircraft guns, four 1.1-inch anti-aircraft guns, four 20-millimeter anti-aircraft guns, and ten 21-inch torpedo tubes. In February of 1945, Hailey joined Fast Carrier Task Force 58, and until the end of June, participated in bombardments and strikes, inflicting much damage to the enemy on Okinawa.
